 "The Municipal Land Transfer Tax first-time buyer rebate has remained unchanged since it was first introduced in 2008, despite the average price of a Toronto home increasing 65% over the same time period. Adjusting the rebate and rate threshold for inflation would help to ease the city's housing crunch, improving affordability."

With housing affordability becoming an increasingly urgent issue, the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board is calling for a number of changes to the Municipal Land Transfer Tax.
