"When I was contacted by a concerned Toronto boater, I knew this was an issue I needed to dive into. I am familiar with urban boating culture and the communities it creates, and was shocked to hear that earlier this week boaters received an email informing them that the marina would not open for the season. It would have been nice to have let them know before they pulled their boats out of the water in October. I thought it was important to offer the boaters — and all parties involved, in theory — a platform through which to voice their concerns."
